Free Heads Up game — play online
upheads is a free online charades-style party game in the spirit of Heads Up: hold your phone to your forehead, your friends act out or describe the word, and you guess as many as you can before the timer runs out. No app to install, no download and no sign-up — just play in your browser on any phone, free and without downloading anything.
How to play
Pick a category, hold the phone to your forehead so your friends can see the screen, then tilt down when you guess right and tilt up to pass. You can also tap the screen instead of tilting. It works on iPhone and Android: menus in portrait, and you turn the phone sideways for the guessing round.
What you can play
With 30 decks and 1,500+ words, you can guess celebrities, movies and TV, viral videos, pop hits, slang, NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL players, superheroes, cartoons, video games, animals, food, jobs, sports, brands, cars, instruments, historical figures, emotions, songs and act-it-out prompts — or build your own custom deck. Playing with children? There's a kid-friendly deck for family game night. New to the group? The mixed deck pulls a little of everything.
Play anywhere, on any phone
upheads works in any modern browser on iPhone and Android — menus in portrait, the guessing round in landscape — and even offline once it has loaded. Add it to your home screen to play like an app. It's a great free party game for family game nights, road trips, classrooms and get-togethers.
Play in teams — built for large groups
Playing with a big group? Open Teams mode on the setup screen and pick 2, 3 or 4 teams. upheads passes the turn from team to team, adds each round's score to that team's total and shows a running scoreboard, so you always know who is winning. Because no word repeats in the same session, every team plays a fresh set of words and gets a fair shot. One phone is enough for the whole room: the guesser holds it to their forehead while everyone else gives the clues. That makes it a great team party game for birthdays, house parties, classrooms, offsites and family game nights — anything from 4 to 20 players.
Tips for a better game
Two players are enough — one guesses while the others give clues — but it's most fun in a big group, and a single phone is all you need. When you give clues, don't say the word itself: use gestures, sounds and short hints, and keep the pace quick so you rack up more guesses before the timer runs out. In a crowd, switch on Teams mode: upheads passes the turn around for you, keeps score per team and never shows the same word twice in a session — so every team gets a fair deck. Shorter rounds keep the energy high, and the kids deck makes it easy to include younger players.
